Grimpant is a dynamic map of Montpellier that reveals entanglements of human and botanical movement with urban infrastructure.
A mobile app allows you to track your movement through the city and make audio recordings at points in the environment where you may have significant botanical encounters. You may also use the app to listen to others recordings on location.
Movement and sound collected and uploaded through the app is incorporated into a dynamic map presented as a wall-sized animation in the galleries of La Panacée. The project invites participants to engage Montpelliers long and continued history as a city of unique cultural and biological diversity.
The artists and La Panacée thank you for your interest and welcome questions or comments.
Nota Bene: Grimpant is designed specifically for the city of Montpellier. It will not work in other locations.
